AFI AWARDS 2012 Announced

The AFI AWARDS 2012 Official Selections have just been announced!

AFI AWARD Honorees are selected based on works which best advance the art of the moving image, enhance the rich cultural heritage of America’s art form, inspire audiences and artists alike, make a mark on American society and represent the year’s most outstanding achievements in film and television. AFI is the only national organization that honors the creative ensembles as a whole, acknowledging the collaborative nature of the art form.

MAD MEN now tops the list as the most recognized AFI AWARDS TV honoree, with 2012 marking its fifth appearance in the AFI almanac, followed closely by BREAKING BAD, EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND, MODERN FAMILY, THE SOPRANOS and THE WIRE, each with four AFI AWARDS honors since 2001.

AFI will honor the creative ensembles for each of the selections at an invitation-only luncheon on Friday, January 11, 2013 in Los Angeles, California.

U.S. Premiere of THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY Tonight in New York

THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY from Academy Award^®-winning Peter Jackson has its U.S. Premiere tonight at the Ziegfeld Theatre in New York City, and will benefit the education and preservation initiatives of the American Film Institute.

The screening begins at 7 p.m. EST, with the following expected cast and crew in attendance:

Three members of our Board of Trustees are listed on the “Women in Entertainment 2012: Power 100 List” in today’s issue of The Hollywood Reporter. 

Current board members on the list are Anne Sweeney, Kathleen Kennedy and Shonda Rhimes.
